Upgrading i5 750 to i7 870

Would upgrading to the i7 870 from my i5 750 be a worthwhile purchase? A friend of mine is selling his 870 for $60, and considering I'm not able to upgrade my cpu, much less buy an entirely new mobo for a new socket, I thought it might be worth it. Would love some input!

Currently I have a Radeon HD 6970, 8GB of RAM, and of course the i5 750.

Thanks for the answer! But I'm just curious. With my current set-up I barely reach a constant 60fps playing Battlefield 3 with minimum settings. Is that normal considering my specs? Or is something wrong?

Your build should be fine but maybe it is not constant as the parts maybe a bit old and drivers are not updated. However I don't see a problem why your can't get a constant FPS with minimum settings. :)
