Yes I searched and the answer is probable here right in front of me but I'm wearing myself out, lol.

Anyhow just like the title states....

It's 8/13/14, do I have to install Windows OS 8 Pro prior to upgrading to 8.1 Pro or can I just go right to 8.1 for install?

Also, I see that most new builds on here are showing Windows 8.1 for the operating system. With so many bad reviews why are most here using 8.1?

Thanks, Rick

If you don't have any keys then theres no need to worry about Windows 8.0 at all. Just purchase Windows 8.1 Pro. Windows 8 isn't required to install 8.1.

Now you can purchase Windows 8.1 Home and then do and anytime upgrade which you would pay for the Key to unlock the Pro version. I would imagine buying Pro outright would be cheaper the buy home then purchasing the upgrade key.

Windows now when you install it installs all versions and you enter the key to load your version then if you want to upgrade you buy the new key and those features get activated.

Your more likely to have problems installing Windows 8.0 then upgrading to 8.1 then if you just install 8.1 in the first place.

This is for a new build, I have neither key yet, that's why I'm asking. Just making sure that I can go right to 8.1 without having to start with 8 first so I know which to purchase.

Thanks
