Here's a PC I'm looking at building for someone who's looking at spending under $450, just wondering on your thoughts on my component choices, as the opinion of an expert is always appreciated :)
Amazon (Price in $US):
CPU: AMD Athlon 5350 APU, 2.05Ghz - $50
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB - $41
HD: WD Blue 1 TB - $58
DVD Drive : LG Electronics Optical DVD Drive - $16
PSU: Logisys Corp. 480W - $16
OS: Windows 8.1 - $97
Shipping: $18
Subtotal: $279 US ($300 AU)
From Australian Dealer (Price in $AU):
Case: NZXT Source 210W - $62
ASRock AM1B-MDH Socket AM1 - $56
Shipping: $12
Subtotal: $130
TOTAL: $440 (AU)
Just some other info:
I'm getting the mobo and case from an Australian dealer because Amazon doesn't have any mobo's with international shipping and the shipping on cases is frightfully expensive :)
If you've got anything else that needs clarifying feel free to ask :)

Its either that or get a case with a psu included, which will be of similar quality. It's a $450 pc, its pointless spending $100 on a psu
Edit: Sorry for being snappy... I guess I could take 10 bucks off the case and spend an extra $20 to get a 430 watt corsair psu

The only case vendor with an included psu that I would trust would be Antec.
Go cheap on the case if you need to, but buy a decent psu.
Here is a guide to help:

On the ram, make that a 2 x 2gb kti so you get dual channel operation. With integrated graphics, faster ram is better if there is not a big price difference.

How much hard drive storage space will be needed? Unless large files like video's will be stored, I highly suggest you up the budget and buy a 120gb ssd for the "C" drive and omit the hard drive. It will make even the slowest cpu feel snappy.
Look for Samsung evo.

I'm not building the pc for myself, I've just been asked to build a computer for $500. I charge $50, so thats $450 in parts. Might speak to him tomorrow, see if I've got a bit of wriggle room :p  That way I can go with dual channel ram, don't think I'll be able to squeeze a ssd in tho :( , I put one in my dad's computer and it absolutely roars along :)
I'm going with a $45 case atm so I can fit a decent PSU in. Might go with Corsair CX 430 Watt, can only drop to $40 on the case though... the shop doesn't have anything cheaper

A prebuilt from Lenovo or such may well be a better buy for your customer.
Not so good for you though:(

CX430 is often on sale and is a decent budget psu. I have built with several.
One failed, but the RMA was painless.

Have you considered intel? A G1820 is $46 in the us and has a similar capability.
A H81 motherboard from ECS is $40:
