power button for shutdown..

hi all, can I just push the power button of my cpu instead of properly going to windows-option-shutdown-yes? what is the advantage and disadvantage of this? thanks in advance.

If you have the power settings set to shut down properly when you press the button it is fine. If you just hold it until the computer turns off, that is not good. If you do it ALOT you will wear parts out faster and risk loosing data.
