Intel Pentium G3258 4.6 ghz vs i5 4690k 4.6 ghz

I dont know If I should choose a intel core i5 or a pentium. If I choose the pentium then I can have a r9 270x, but if I choose a i5 4690k then I have to use the hd 4600. If the gaming perfomance isnt a huge difference then I will take the pentium (pentium vs i5). I will maybe buy a gtx 780ti or a 800 series gpu. If the pentium wont bottleneck it a lot then I will buy the pentium.

Edit: And note that the i5 they used in that benchmark is at its stock 3.5 GHz, and still pretty far ahead.

The i5 is worth it now if you're ready to spend the money, or as Pinkie Pie suggested, the G3258 is a good choice now if you will upgrade later.

Go for the i5 its the better one than pentium many new games need minimum requirement as core 2 duo so u cant play new games and it wont perform good and you cant play games with pentium and r9 270x Just go with 5i5 and a good gfx card i recommend you to get gtx 750 I love one time investment buy i5 now it will run almost games without graphic card i mean about assanins creed not saying about heavy games like watch dogs and cod ghost So buy I5

This is a brand new Haswell-based Pentium G3258, not a Pentium 4 or whatever. Its miles better than a Core 2 Duo.

Example: If you have $500 to spend on a GPU and CPU for a gaming rig it would be better to spend $50 on the CPU and $450 on the GPU then $250 on both.

It's best to get the greatest GPU you can, as a high end CPU is way less than a high end GPU. So the upgrade path later is less expensive.

Check my link from earlier.. actual performance comparison in real games. Ark is a great resource for encyclopedic technical stats, but framerates tell us a lot more than the amount of L3 cache or whatever.

Thanks for giving that brother I realy thought that pentium processers are old and not making it anymore :D but still have a doubt some games saying its minimum requirement is core 2 duo so does this pentium can over come it? just a silly qustion? and is it factory unlocked like amd fx series

The pentium g3258 is listed in the title...its the new unlocked dual core pentium, its a very good cpu for the price, but an i5 in laymens terms is two of these slapped together in one die, if you plan on going 280x or above on your gpu, an i5 would be a good choice.
