Hello,

Essentially I have two computers in one room and the modem is across the house. There is only one wall ethernet port in the room with the two computers. The wall ethernet port is wired to the modem. I was wondering if I could use a switch to connect the two computers into the one wall ethernet port? And if so, will the internet download/upload speeds change?

We have Bell Fibe highspeed internet. If this were to work, would I need standard cat5e cables throughout?

Thank you :)

Solution
Hi
Yes a switch will work for that.
Cat 5e will support up to 1 Gb/s so is much faster than your broadband so the upload/download speeds will remain the same.

Can you recommend a switch?

This switch looks like a veery good choice judging by the reviews, price and features as well as the good brand and build quality.

Definitely! Newegg has great deals and TP-Link is definitely a known brand for ethernet cables.
