I have a gigabyte ga-970a-ud3 rev 1.2 motherboard running on 8.1. Since updating to 8.1 I cant change a single thing in the bios without my computer failing to boot. I'm thinking this motherboard is too old and maybe just need a new one. There has not been an update for the bios since 2012. Is it time to upgrade or is there something im missing here? Thanks!

what are your full specs? disabling cool & quiet results in increased cpu temps!? is you cooling sufficient? also the latest F8a(2012/12/20) is stated as beta '' BETA describes a new version that is reliable yet may not include all the features of the final product ''

Are you talking about windows 8.1 or bios version 8.1?

If so you could downgrade the bios to a previous version, but if it worked fine under windows 8 and then stopped under 8.1....

And actually that doesn't make any sense because the OS shouldn't have any negative effects on the bios, it should only be the other way around where the Bios would prevent windows 8.1 from working.

Also, why did you update the bios? if everything WAS working right, there isn't a reason to update the bios usually. Only if you get a hardware incompatibility should you need to update the bios.

Sorry, I shouldve been more clear. The bios version is the latest, which came out 2012. The problem Im having is that when I change even ONE thing in my bios, whether is turning off cool and quiet or something simple like that, my computer will not boot. The only solution to that (i think) is to update the bios, which i cannot. Thought maybe 8.1 can't run properly or boot because of an old bios. I dunno. Could there be another reason why my bios is being so touchy?
