I am likely going to use the Cooler Master Elite 311 cabinet. And I would be using this system for mostly linux kernel compiling and the occasional games (nothing hardcore, mostly, online MMOs and things like doom 3 and such).

I read everywhere that AMD CPUs require aftermarket coolers. Till now, I have always used Intel and the stock cooler... no heat related issues so far.

Will my configuration and use case require any aftermarket CPU cooler, or the stock cooler will be sufficient? Please suggest.

Also, if an aftermarket cooler should be used, please recommend one that would be best for (and compatible with) my cabinet and motherboard.

Thanks in advance.

I just built a PC with the little brother to that, the A4-4300. It is in a mid-tower case and usually is used for class presentations, video streaming, and a bit of FPS gaming: Using HWInfo 64 for monitoring, I have never seen it over 40C. I don't think you will have a problem doing what you do especially with all the case fans in that case, as long as you don't overclock.
And BTW; FRAPS showed me playing MW3 at 38-60 frames per second the other night on the integrated graphics; I am pretty happy with that performance; yours should do a little better.
