I've had this PC for around 5 years and it still works pretty good. Is there anything worth upgrading now for gaming purposes? My Max budget is $500. I've been thinking about an OS and GPU upgrade. I believe my processor is still going to last me a little while longer. Also been thinking of a bit bigger SSD.

Admirable
Yeah a GPU upgrade would suit your build nicely. You may as well get the best you can afford even if the current processor bottlenecks it a bit if you plan on upgrading your CPU and motherboard next.

I applaud you for tolerating Vista for so long but maybe you should just hang on a bit longer until Windows 9 comes out next year? I'm running 8.1 with classic shell right now and it's been rock solid but I've had it a year, if I was considering an OS upgrade now though I think I'd hang on as 9 looks to be more promising on the UI front!

I would go for something like a GTX 850ti or an r9 290x. Then save your money so you can get a new CPU and Mobo later. You should also put some money aside for a new OS or run linux if you don't want to buy a new OS. You could also dual boot linux if you don't want to give up Vista
