Constant disconnects and holdups, but not due to router?

About a week ago, I started noticing that my computer would have a connection error every once in a while which would require me to disconnect and reconnect to my router to fix. I thought to myself, uh oh, my router is crapping out on me. However, as the week progressed, I soon realized that it is not in fact my router where the problem lies. All other devices in my household work flawlessly with my router, only encountering connection problems very rarely. When my computer can't connect, my phone can. Not to mention, when my connection gets cut off, it stays cut off indefinitely, until I purposely go to disconnect and reconnect to my network. Whether I disconnect and reconnect the second after, or an hour later, it will always reconnect to a properly working router.

Sometimes, I also experience slowdowns, or holdups, where I am left waiting indefinitely for a page to load, usually resulting in me disconnecting and reconnecting, even though there was no explicit connection error displayed.

What I want to know is what I can do to potentially fix these problems, or if my wireless adapter has kicked the bucket and needs replacing.
