I'm new to pc gaming(Xbox broke and decided to get a new pc a week ago) and i want to upgrade the GPU that came with my computer. Not sure about others standards but considering how cheap the 640 was I'm actually impressed that it can run most of the games i have on steam on good settings.

I asked somebody I knew if they had a recommendation and they said "i dont know maybe a card from the 700 series." So i looked it up and this was the first card i saw. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4MQOE6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BFD6F2WEKK8A&coliid=I1CUE72KR6HOID

I dont mind spending a bit more if you want to drop me a suggestion, thanks.

My modest specs are below, for my first gaming pc it seems pretty good to me.
Processor - AMD FX 6300 3.50GHz 6-Core
Ram - 16GB DDR3
GPU - GT 640 (2gb)
Storage - 1TB HDD
OS - Windows 8

My current power supply unit is a 450 watt but i plan on ordering a 600 watt at the same time i purchase a new gpu, i thought that a 600 would be enough. Let me know if its not. As for my motherboard its a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ V X16 4D3 M32 GL R MATX, copy and paste.

Yes a GTX 760 will be a huge increase from a GT 640. At least your getting a 600w psu so you can put a 760 in there.

Yes 600 watts will be enough. I suggest picking a PSU off tier 2b or above on this list (https://community.newegg.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware/f/135081/t/45344.aspx?). The tier 1, 2, and 2b units cost more, but are worth the extra cost for further reliability.

Also, make sure your case is large enough to support the longer 760, but other than that you should be all set.

@TechyInAZ Thanks :)

@drumminandstuff93 Thanks for all the help I don't mind spending more if its to make sure i don't break my computer. My case is a XPredator X1 ATX Mid Tower, it has a lot of room as far as i can tell. The only reason i got it is because it has 6 fans but I think its pretty good.

@Shneiky I hadn't picked one yet but i know enough to avoid crappy ones as i have been doing some research and have seen a lot of horror stories about low end power supply units.

Oh and i forgot to mention my monitor's resolution is 1920x1080, I assume its still ok to go with this card.
