Hello there geeks :D

I just got a new (old) CPU and MB and got my self a new SSD.

If i am to play games like Arma 3, WoW, Wildstar, CS:GO and BF 4. What graphic card shut i buy.

My system is as follow.

MB: MSI Z77A-GD65
CPU: i5 2500k OC'ed to 4.2 Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR 3 1333 Mhz
GFX: GTX 560 ti Phantom 2GB GDDR5

I have bin looking at:

Gainward GeForce GTX 770 4GB (Phantom)

and

Sapphire Radeon TRI-X R9 290 4GB "OC"

Are they overkill and i shut go lower, or will it run just fine.

If any of you guys have anything better or just some good info on what to go for, plz let me know.

Cheers

WoW is a very CPU-based game so upgrading that could fix some problems. However I don't know if it's smart because even really high end systems are hardly able to run that game @ultra@1080p@60fps in huge raids. It's just because it's a very old game engine that has been tweaked a lot, and it relies heavy on network latency because you get A LOT data. Compare the size of the complete Eastern Kingdoms with all players in it, with the size of one Crysis 3 map and you immediately understand why WoW could never look like that game.

I'd suggest to buy a R9 270(x) or 280(x) if you want some better overall performance, though that will be in games like Crysis 3 of BF4 and not in WoW, then your system would be more balanced, but I definately...
That's a good, solid base system, with plenty of CPU power.
If you're running on a single 1920x1080 screen and don't want the 'ultra' graphics I'm inclined to agree with hang-the-9; You probably don't really need to upgrade just yet.
If, on the other hand you're LOOKING for that 'ultra' quality then either card will be a good upgrade although the GTX770 is slower than either the R9 290X or the R9 290.
Personally, for a single screen, I'd go for the Sapphire Tri-X R9 290, cool, quiet, powerful but be aware that it demands a good powersupply, 700 Watts with 1x6 and 1x8 pin PCI-E leads and is very long at some 31 cm (12.1 inches).
Either card will benefit from good case ventilation, the AMD option in particular produces a lot of heat when loaded.
If the system is currently using some cheap, no brand powersupply I strongly advise you to upgrade that first, before installing any expensive new hardware.

Thank you all for the super fine helping info. I guess its all about settings then, coz dropping down to around 10 FPS at some bosses in WOW and running with around 20-25 FPS in Arma 3 on mid, is telling me somehing is worng here.

Ill hold on my money for a bit longer i try to make a work around my problems atm :)

Thanks again everyone, you guys are the best :)

I can run on Ultra in WOW with a much worse system, although in large groups things tend to slow down a bit, but I don't think it ever drops to 10 fps. Do an internet speed test and check your ping in WOW. I'm guessing your narmal frames in WOW are 50-60 outside of large raids correct?

Yeah i don't know whats wrong here :) outside 25 man raids i'm running on ultra with around 50 FPS yes, so yeah it might be something in my system, i have done a good clan up of the hardware tho it was not messed up.

I might say that the 10 FPS in raids is with everything on low, if i keep it on ultra i'm down to like 2-3 FPS on some fights.

My internet on speedtest.net say 34/32 optical fiber with an ping on 3.
In game i have a MS on Home: 20 and World: 40

Can it have something to do with my OC of the CPU. im using the OC Gen 1 click overclock on my MSI MB.
