I've been trying to search around for a while with an answer to this, but I can't seem to find anyone having the exact same issue. Also, I've been through 5 or 6 routers in the past 7 years and so far all of them have had this issue.

The problem is that at seemingly random times the internet access on my wifi stops working, my server, and phones that I have connected via cat5 works perfectly during these 'outages'. The actual wireless doesn't go down as I still have a connection on all the devices, and I can sill control things locally through it, it's only the external connections that fail.

The previous hardware that this was happening on was 2 or 3 various linksys routers, and the past 3 were all netgear. Not sure of the models for the previous ones though, but I do know that at the time they were fairly high end, as I've always paid around $175 for each one I've bought.

The current one is a netgear prosafe FVS318N, and this happens on all devices connected to it: phones, laptops, roku players, xbox, ect.

I'm really hoping someone might have experienced this before, as I've exhausted every option i can think of other then flashing it with a third party firmware.

You could have a bad cable. Or, You could have stray a\c voltage getting into your modem\router wiring. A/C house current in the wiring would cause mult-routers failing. I have never seen it happen but I have seen it happen to Cat 3 wiring and get into telephone systems. Probably a wild long shot but it can be tested. A couple of things I thought of.

I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to my cables, I have all data and power lines separated by at least a foot where possible, also this newest router has been on a ups the whole time I've been using it. I suppose the actual power supply may be causing issues but I doubt I've had 6 faulty ones in a row. Still, something to look into.
