After a mishap buying the wrong size fans and sending them back, I ordered and received two of these 120MM Fans.
Case Fan: Cooler Master JetFlo 95.0 CFM 120mm Fan
After screwing them on in the proper direction and orientation so the wires would reach the Motherboard, I managed to plug the first one in no problem, the second one... It won't reach the plug for the second chassis fan. I tried changing the orientation of the fan and routing the cable in various ways, but to no avail.
Since these fans came with two Silent Mode Adapters each, while I don't mind the noise, I can use one of them to make the wire long enough to reach the plug. Here's the problem though... My Motherboard uses 4-pin Chassis fans, while the Silent Mode Adapters use 3-pins. To complicate things further, by doing this, that fan can only run at a max of 1600 RPM instead of the max 2000 RPM normally. On top of that, because of where the plug is, I must remove the Heatsink to even plug the cable in straight. I have Arctic Silver 5 compound, but I wasn't planning on replacing the compound on my CPU & Heatsink until after seeing that the fans were working properly.
Since I'll be applying the new thermal compound after ridding the CPU & Heatsink of the compound on it now (the Cooler Master brand,) after removing the Heatsink, is there a way to change that 4-pin Chassis fan plug to work as a 3-pin in BIOS?
