I have an ipod touch 4th generation that has suddenly stopped allowing me to add any music to it. It worked absolutely great with no problems for about a year and suddenly when I load it up on itunes I can't add any music to it at all. if I try and drag any music from my computer on to it, I get a no icon and can't add anything.Same if I try and add music from my itunes library. It's recognized by windows and by itunes but I just can't add anything to it at all.

I've done pretty much everything I can think of to try and fix this, I've completely wiped itunes from my computer using revo uninstaller and re-installed, I've also completely uninstalled itunes manually, following an online tutorial telling me how to remove absolutely all traces of it before re-installing it. I've made sure that my ipods ios is up to date, I've reset my ipod, I've completely erased my ipod and restored it to factory settings. The driver is correct and up to date. I have an old backup but it fails every time I try and restore it, saying that the backup session failed. I've tried resetting the lockdown folder as recommended but when I delete it, itunes can't connect to my ipod, so I ended up restoring the lockdown folder back to where it was from my trash can. I've made sure all my drivers are up to date and my computer is AMD so i know its not an intel chipset/ipod issue. I've turned off my antivirus and computer security programs and that made no difference at all. If I set it to sync music with my library it will start and then stop instantly and nothing gets added to it at all. Same if I tell it to sync over my wifi.

The weird thing is that this ipod works fine if I take it to my parents house and try it on their computer. Syncs fine and I can add music with no problems, so I'm pretty sure the issue is with my system instead of the iPod itself. I've been told I should just re-install windows on the apple ipod forums, but I don't have an external hard drive or anyway to back up my files, so I'm willing to do that if it's the only possible fix, but I'd like to try other solutions first. Also using system restore to before this all happened did nothing to fix the problem

I have an old ipod mini that has absolutely no problems at all using the same itunes and computer so I'm pretty sure this issue is just with this ipod, possibly because it's an ipod touch instead of an older regular ipod? I bought it used on amazon so the warranty and service coverage have already expired, so I kinda have to figure out how to fix it myself..

Any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated
