My computer won't be connected to the internet, XP is my favourite Windows, and I can get it free, unlike Windows 8. I'm looking at the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3 Micro ATX FM2+ with AMD Athlon X4 740 3.2GHz Quad-Core or the MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard with AMD Sempron 145 2.8GHz Single-Core Processor. Will these play nice with XP, or will I need something older?

I'd go with the Sempron for XP.

Why not just buy the new system and run a virtual OS of XP.
Through windows 7.
You would have the best of both worlds.
A new more powerful system, where you would not have a problem looking for drivers for the new hardware.
Since most new boards don`t have xp drivers in some cases.

If that is what you mean.

Or do this.

Because that would cost another $100 and performance isn't very good.
