Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, I wasn't entirely sure where else to do so. Okay, fairly simple question really that I tried to look up but was unable to find an answer that I was able to understand clearly.

I have recently had issues in my apartment building with car break-ins and I fear that my car may be targeted as well so I am looking in to setting up a camera just to stick in my window (which has an excellent view of almost the entire lot for my building that currently has no surveillance).

The problem is that since I live in an apartment I have no real need for any sort of 'professional' surveillance equipment and I am completely new in the area of it so I have no clue how it works. From what I understand, many cameras require some sort of separate recording device. I would prefer one that can simply hook up to my computer and record directly to it or one that does not require additional components if possible.

I found this device, which seems to be what I may be looking for, and fairly cheap as well, but as I said, I have absolutely no experience with surveillance and am very unsure about it.

Does this camera record to my computer, or some sort of third party website that allows me to view it at will without additional instruments/expenses on my end? If not, could someone please help me out on what I could do that would do this or something similar to this? I would be very grateful.

One last thing, if this camera is something I'd be looking for, but you may know of a better one for a similar price please let me know. I would like to get something that will last but is still inexpensive as I have a baby on the way and intend to use it as a in-room monitor later as well. Thanks in advance for any help, and again I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

EDIT: Not sure if this would make a difference for ability to record video to my computer, but here are my specs: http://puu.sh/aRMUu.txt

The camera you posted the link to is a very low resolution camera. I would think that your car might only be 1 or 2 pixels at the typical distance to parking in an apartment complex. This camera http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G0U31934 has better resolution and fits on a window sill very easily. It is wireless for networking and only needs a power plug within a few feet.
You would have to have some software on your PC to record. I believe YAWCAM could be used to record. You can also setup your router so that you can remotely access the camera from your phone for a live view.

Thanks for helping with the details about the ability to record to my PC, thats pretty much all I needed to know.

Also, thanks for the link to that camera. It's a bit pricey, but I was able to find a 720p cam from Foscam that is about 35$ cheaper and has excellent reviews. While the parking lot is actually directly outside my window, it would still be nice to have a better resolution. Thanks again!
