So my desktop has decided to die on me for seemingly no reason. Working fine, left it off all day, come back home and it just doesn't boot. No fans, no BIOS, no hard drives spinning - nada. I've tried using the on-motherboard boot button (GA-Z87X-OC if that helps), tried resetting the BIOS by connecting the prongs and still nothing.

More about : attempt boot

Do you have a spare power supply unit to try out?
Dumb question, but did you check that the mains power cable is still plugged in? Didn't get bumped by the cat during the day or something?

I've gone and removed all of the plugs and reconnected them. It seems to be giving constant USB power too - any mouse connected will light up, and the LED on the motherboard is on. I don't have a spare PSU, but I've got a Seasonic 1000W 80+ Platinum, so I'm fairly confident there shouldn't be any issues there.

I definitely didn't go overboard on the PSU...

Oh wow, this shouldn't be in Windows XP.

If you had a PSU tester I would suggest that.
But otherwise at some point I think you are going to have to try a new motherboard or a new power supply.

I'd say it's the PSU. Check your wires however, a mouse could've bit through them or something ;)
