Hi, Guys My little brother did something to his computer and I'm stumped on what to do. The windows logo starts up and after that there is a black screen with an underscore blinking.

When starting the computer the only F buttons that work are F12 and del( opens boot menu) Button.

Windows 7, At the black screen with the underscore I can hear the beeps of the keyboard presses.

. Troubleshooting so far

1. Made sure the boot was set at default and the hard drive was selected.

2. Alt+F10 did bring up the recovery program with two options restoring all setting and backing up files and deleting everything and re-installing everything to factory. I tried Both and the problem continued.

3. Nothing is in the Cd-Drive and no external drive.

4. I think it must be a hardware failure but ive never gone this far. So some steps would be nice to help me figure this out. I have everything I need to open the computer just never done it before.

no u dont need any installer..windows 7 in your USB will do that.
do these things

plug in your USB

go to bios>booting order /sequence>move usb hdd on the top >save and exit..
it will start booting from USB and just follow the instuctions thereafter..

Windows isn't corrupt;
85% chances are that the RAM is making the problem.
15% chances are that it's the HDD or some other part is making the problem.
Try to open the computer, just check whether every parts, (like ram, cables, SATA cables, HDD, etc.) are connected properly.
NOTE-You specs link is broken :(, please fix it, so that we can help you much better in resolving your problem!

did you try different ram??or "opening in safe mode" try out these two things
if ram doesnt solve your problem,
then you have to reinstall windows,as some files might have gone corrupt or missing..

then thats the only choice you have left with..
use bootable windows cd/dvd or bootable windows USB to reinstall your windows on c:
dont install it anywhere else..
remember doing this will wipe out any data stored in the c: drive but your other drive's data will remain intact..
to make bootable USB

make your USB pendrive bootable / make ISO from cd / dvd
