Hi all

I recently bought the following components and all is working well. Now it is time to upgrade the GPU as well.

Had > Now

core2Duo 2.8Ghz > i5 4690k
ECS g31 > MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Mbo
4Gb DDR2 800Mhz kingstonRAM > 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Corsair vengenge

Geforce 240GT 1Gb DDR5

Now what GPU will fit this build since it is the only thing I still need to upgrade?

PS: I have been told by a friend the Nvidea 760 will complement this. Any thoughts on Radeon cards?

Regards

Great CPU choice! I recommend going faster than 760 with your potentially beast system.

You'll at least want a OC'd 770/280x or even wait as NVidia has new GPUs out next month and AMD should also launch their 285 which is a faster more power efficient 280.

Before I mention any GPU, what's your PSU?

I might be back a but late to reply after this but I'll promise to be back. :)

600W coolermaster. I will most likely need to beef it up?

600W is perfect but if you want a better GPU than 760 I would recommend at least 700W for extra headroom.

Nvidia cards: 750, 750Ti, 760, 770 (might be able to sneak in :)  )
AMD cards: R9 270 and above to 280 (maybe 280x can be sneaked in as well :)  )

If its a good 600w psu, you can run anything up to and including a 780 Ti on that.

I think I will go for the MSI Radeon R9 280x or the MSI GTX 770 ...
At the moment I am leaning to the R9 280x any reason not to and go for 770?

Thanks for the help so far!

PS: I will look into Crossfire/SLI somewhere next year. What card will support this function better and what PSU will you recommend for this option?

The amd cards are more power hungry and tend to be less reliable, and crossfire drivers aren't as good as nvidia's I think...
