Howdy guys. I recently dug up my old dell vostro 220s, and thought about bringing it to college to game on. I used to spend days on end playing the original guild wars on it. I was wondering what upgrades you think could help me outperform my dell xps 8300 and maybe even my MacBook Pro retina 2013.
More than likely, I'll need a new gpu and from reading reviews about the processor stuff, I'm pretty sure the motherboard is not able to support a quad core or more processor. So maybe video card, ram, hdd/ssd upgrades?
Budget is around $200-250 pretty strict. No I don't want to save up and build a new one. I'd prefer to upgrade this one.
I want to play games like Starcraft 2, world of Warcraft, league of legends, diablo 3, dota 2, and maybe some newer games like watchdogs, Titanfall or Thief (I can live without being able to play the new games though but the core of above stated games is fairly crucial). I already have all the peripherals taken care of.
Lemme know what you guys think for Dell Vostro 220s upgrades.
Also, I have a side question. The vostro is running windows vista (bleh!) and the xps 8300 win 7. If I switched the hard drives between the two machines, A.) is that even possible, and B.) would the vostro run win 7 like the xps because the OS (should be) saved on the HDD? That could allow for more money onto the gpu upgrade and whatnot. Just a thought.
