What motherboard? I don't see why not since the Duo Core supports the same socket. The issue comes down to whether the motherboard can support the new CPU. Otherwise I think it should be fine.

Oh ok well, still the motherboard seems to support it just fine. If you want a second opnion you can check out to see if the Crucial website scanner tool might recognize that as an upgrade if it doesn't don't be alarmed. But it's a good reference point if it does.
