So I had a pentium 4 processor and that wasn't enough for me as it was too slow I just bought a core 2 duo and put it in my motherboard but when I try to turn it on it shuts down roughly after 1 second or sometimes 3 I have reset my bios by taking the power cable out an taking the battery out because my motherboard is one of the really old ones that don't have the 3 pin connector thing and I obviously can't press f10 because it turns off after a second so can anyone please help me?

I think it the cpu is not compatible with the make or model of the motherboard. Please tell me the motherboard make and model. Try to update the BIOS.

The chipset of the motherboard will be very old for the new CPU. Consider buying a new mother board.

Intel Core 2 Duo's socket is 775. Google for motherboards with socket 775
