Hello, how are you?
So, I need help figuring this out.
On a Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H, with 4 Dimms of Crucial Ballistix Sport XT, will a Noctua NH-D15 fit? Or will it not clear the RAM?

Thanks.
Cheers!

The NH-d15 fits, BUT you will have to move the second fan up or to the front. Without the second fan, it will fit ram up to 64mm (see http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=68&lng=en). If you have bad clearance in your case, you will have to run it with only one fan (which is not that bad actually). I moved my second fan to the front (kind of pull-pull) and it works like a charm

Hello,
Thank you for your replies.
The case is a Corsair 600T.
I guess it should fit fine.
I can still change the ram. Is it better to go with something else?

Cheers and thanks!

Depends, the corsair vengeance ram is quite good, they have low profile versions of it as well so you'll be guaranteed that the cpu cooler and ram don't clash

Ok.
I guess I'll go with low profile ram.
Is the Z87X-UD3H compatible with 1.35v ram?
Also, is it better to have 1600 MHZ CL9 RAM or 1866 CL10 ram?

Cheers and thanks!

Great.
Then I guess I'll go for a 32gb kit (4x8gb) of Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP DDR3-1600 CL9 (9-9-9-24).
The rest of my shopping list:
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
Intel Core i7-4790K
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 OC WindForce 2GB
Samsung SSD 840 EVO Series 250GB
2X Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001 - 2TB 7200
EVGA SuperNova NEX750G G2 750 Watt PSU
Corsair Graphite Series 600T
TP-LINK N450 TL-WDN4800 450Mbit Dualband
GMYLE Micro USB Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle
Noctua NH-D15 Cooler

Will everything play nice together? :)

Cheers and thanks!

Hello,
I chose the Z87 because the build will be to run OSX (Hackintosh). So, the Z87 is a more compatible out of the box solution.
With that in mind, should I replace the 4790k with a 4770k?

Thanks once again for all the help! :)

Because I would need bios F10b to run the 4790k?
If the board comes with a lower bios, the system won't boot with the 4790k, right?

That too bad, since the 4790k is only 20 euros more than the 4770k.

Cheers!

The bios takes care of that, not the OS. So my answer is yes, it will be able to run at 1866 Mhz.

The 4790K might work, depending on how long it has been on the shop's shelves, if it's quite new, then it ships with a new bios that supports the 4790K. And indeed it will not boot with the 4790K with an older bios.

I'm gonna check something for you and I'll be back. (Some boards can be updated without a CPU, I have to check if that board can.)
