Hi,
As the title says, I try to find a way to boot from an XP vhd.
My old PC is worse than my netbook (it goes pretty slow on win7 starter). I tried to install windows xp from 4 different disks:
1. Legal win xp cd buyed from a store
2. Cd I burned from my house
3. Cd I burned from my cousin's house
4. Special CD with SATA drivers slipestreamed (or something like that)

In the first 3 it stuck forever in the BIOS check screen (missing drivers)
In the 4th it said "Disk read failure, Press [Ctrl+Alt+Delete] to restart".
Then I written manually the win7 mbr through repair disk's command prompt.

I can't install XP on physical drive. I downloaded a vhd file (with fixed size) with XP preinstalled (but not activated). Is there any way to boot from it? I read that EasyBCD can boot from vhd but only in win7 in version 2.0. I have version 2.2.0.183 and as I read it can boot to xp vhd also, but I am afraid to try it, because I had bad experiances with EasyDrive.

Another way I thought is to extract all the files into a new partition and then boot to it through grub2 commands. Is this way gonna work? (it is a silly question for a man that has knowledge of 4 different programming languages)

If you have a proof or/and a video for your answer, don't be afraid to post it.

The hdd is not scratched. It is only 1 year old. And as I remember in my old ATA hdd I installed xp fine. I tried installing win8 without buying it to see if it runs good, but it runs worse than win7 does.
