New Macbook and now my external HD is read only

Just bought a macbook pro and my external HD has become read only even though it worked fine on my previous macbook so I'm thinking it might not be an NTFS software issue. Any ideas?

Hmmm, do you have another PC you can use to copy the files over?
Then you could reformat the drive using the new mac and copy the files back over. :)
