Situation after updating MSI BIOS

I have recently updated the BIOS on my 990FXA-GD65 motherboard using MSI's LiveUpdate and did some slight overclocking to the CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE) using the CLICKBIOSII/ControlCenter tool. Went from 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz by adjusting the multiplier. Nothing else was tampered with.

After these changes my CPU temperature sensor has gone haywire. It either reads 0º or 255º, across cores, no in-between.

Another thing that has happened is sometimes, when turning my PC on, the CPU will work at ridiculously slow speeds (~288 MHz). Restarting the PC remedies this but it will happen again when turning it on after a complete shutdown.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Sounds like the temperature sensor went, since you are only getting Offscale Low and Offscale High values. Which by itself isn't a problem, except if the CPU believes those are true values and throttles down as a result, which might be happening here.

Does undoing the OC fix the sensor?
