Power Supply requirements

Hey, im building a PC and I have some questions about the power supply requirements of my build. I will have a FX-8350 (gonna OC it) and a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC, im planning to get the Cooler Master V700 PSU. Is this PSU enough for this system?

It sure is, although I'd recommend getting a better CPU, as the FX series sucks for high end gaming. Minimum frame rates in a lot of games are quite appalling.

The VS series is horrible quality and many people have issues with them.

He plans to OC.
And it works, but it's not a good PSU. You're obviously only recommending it because you own one.
I won't be surprised if it dies sometime soon. There are just much, much better options.

R9 290 requires 31 Amps on the 12v rail & a 550W PSU minimum

Cooler Master V700 has 58 amps/696W on the 12v rail ( 4x 6+2-pin PCIE connectors) plenty of power & cables.

The V series is Seasonic OEM & top quality, Tier one on the PSU unit tier list - The highest quality and most stable PSUs available on the hardware market today. Highly recommended for any situation

(VS series is perfectly fine as well, but not quite as a good as the V series)

Only trouble with the V & VS series is that they can be a little pricey depending on where you live, so consider other options as well. EVGA's G2 series is solid & a Tier One PSU, it's usually priced really well, if available.

Just out of curiousity, you said that minimum was 550w, can I go for a 650w PSU with a OCed FX8350 (to save some money?)

Yeah 650W would be fine. I reckon you should go with an i5 and a GTX 780 though. The 8XXX and AMD cards pull a lot of power so I wouldn't use a 650W PSU for that build.

Yeah, for sure. The 290 is better value than the 780, but it draws less power so you can save a bit of money on the PSU.
Same with the i5.
