Hi ,,,so im rebuilding an old pc for gaming and was wondering what is the best gpu since there is so many choices my sys is:-
mobo asrock g31m
4 gbs of ddr2 ram
Win 8.1 32bit
Cpu core2due
And will a good gpu give a good gaming experince or i should just upgrade the whole thing,,,!?

Solution

That's correct.

You'll want something like:

i5 or i7 CPU.
A socket 11xx-compatible motherboard, with a PCIe x16 2.0 or 3.0 slot.
8GB of RAM or more.
A 700w or greater PSU.
A modern GPU according to your budget.
Your rig will present numerous bottlenecks for a modern GPU. You didn't mention your PSU but that's of concern as well.

I'd recommend starting a new build. Your specs above are somewhat low on RAM, Core 2 Duos are essentially obsolete for gaming and your motherboard only has a PCIe x16 slot, not a 2.0 or 3.0 version of that slot, which is what you'd need for a modern Graphics Card.

What games do you usually play?
I honestly think you should upgrade the whole system, and wait a little bit on your GPU since when 880 comes out, price may shift
