Hello, I've been running into some problems when trying to overclock my 4670k cpu past 4.2ghz, my voltage is set to 1.25 but if I try to go any higher and run prime95 I get a blue screen Windows crash. What other values should I increase? What could I try? Did I just get unlucky with my cpu?

When I stress test at 4.2ghz my cpu temps are averaged at 50, I'm using a push pull config on a corsair 120mm rad cpu cooler. I'm also using a msi z g87 Motherboard.

Well some of those boards come with a program that you can OC straight from windows. Not sure what it is on MSI. But i think it has an "Auto tuning" feature. basically it overclocks it step by step upwards until it is stable. They dont work 100% but its worth a shot.

blue screen Windows crash = not enough voltage. also, from my experience, stress test requires lower voltage than gaming. i.e. my 4.3 GHz is stable during stress testing, but crashes occasionally during gaming, so I had to further bump up the voltage. But no need to worry since gaming produces much lower temperature than stress testing, even with higher voltage.

also, check windows error report for problems related to under-voltaging but are not severe enough to cause the system to crash. i.e. you may not experience any anomaly (e.g. BSOD) during stress testing, but if there are critical error reports generated, i would still consider the system to be unstable.
