Psu fitting after a misrepair

I recently had a Asrock H61m-Dgs fitted running an Amd 7970 and an I5 processor but the psu fried after two weeks (I fear the specilist who worked on my pc cut some corners when choosing a psu) and now only the LED boots, Would a Corsair CXM 500w psu fit this rig and is there any other method of repairing my pc?

yeah as far as physically fitting your motherboard you are fine. Though 500W is a little low for the graphics card you have. give yourself a little more room. when looking at power supplies make sure they have a PCIe power cable to hook up to your graphics card. Most decent power supplies do. I suggest picking something from the Tier one or Tier two slots of that chart I sent you. Its easy to get a Power supply from a company that makes junk. the stuff at the top of that list has a good reputation.
