I bought a used 2TB internal SATA drive for my computer. I was kind of stupid to not reformat the drive completely, because after installing and storing a TON of programs and files in it, I decide to put a Windows backup in it. Windows backup tells me the its a dynamic disk so I can't make the backup. I go to the disk manager to find that not only is it a dynamic disk, but it has 3 partitions all pointing to disk F:. I tried to delete 2 and extend the first one, but it said the disk can't be unmounted or something. I want to know if this will cause a problem for me in the future, besides the Windows backup.

If I were you, I would quickly copy all that data from the dynamic disk to another drive and then covert that dynamic disk back to basic. Lets say a system using dynamic disk and their board has died. That person want his data so he took his dynamic HDD to another computer, but not all OS supports dynamic disk. When connect to a unsupported OS, he's required to convert it back to basic which means he will loose all of his data. Some OS supports it, but it's read as a foreign disk. They have to use the import method for the OS to recognize it. Basically if you want less problems in the long run, convert it back to basic.
When you mentioned all partition pointing to disk F, do you have a F drive or all the partitions on that dynamic disk is assigned with the letter F?

Thank you, and yes, all the partitions on the dynamic disk are assigned to letter F:. I don't really know what went on with that.
