Youtube not covering whole screen

Every time I watch youtube it does not cover the whole screen. The image shows what I see, two black sides (up and down) which are not showing any video. Is there any way I can make youtube videos actually full screen? If I play the same video on my laptop it shows if full screen. What can I do? Is there anything wrong with my cpu/gpu? Is it from my monitor?

The videos are in 16:9 ratio and your monitor is in 4:3. Nothing wrong with anything. Its just the ratio which makes the monitor give black lines, and its normal.

Add '&yt:stretch=4:3' tag w/o quotes at the end of URL. enjoy

I guess yes. I've a 5:4 FHD HP Monitor lying around (I know, weird aspect ratio) and can't do anything but accept 16:9 content. Reference: http://www.reelseo.com/youtube-aspect-ratio/

Yes that tag is only available with certain videos. The ones whose makers have been kind enough to add a simple tag to let 4:3 users enjoy the video as well :/
I can't think of a way by which we can stop this injustice(pun intended)

EDIT: Also, when I watch a movie on my computer on BS Player or VLC etc. it shows it the same way, it might actually be from my computer/monitor.
Second EDIT: I go on facebook and play a video, it shows it full screen, the video actually covers the whole screen. I need help with youtube, I spend around 1 - 3 hours on youtube minimum daily..

Its not CPU's or Monitor's fault. Its just your aspect ratio. You can't really do anything about it.
If you view a HD 1280*720p video, and you have 1280*1024p monitor, then those extra pixels in the length(152 on each side in this case ) go black due to inavailability of information. that's it and we can't really stretch them to fit the screen. We can do that in VLC.
Go to options>preference.
Video settings>Put 4:3 in force aspect ratio box.
It'll force any video played in it to be 4:3.
