I have a GTX 660 2GB at around 900mhz. I can play Tomb Raider on high at 45 fps. I can appreciate the the companies pushing for bang for the buck. I also have the i5 3570k, 600 watts corsair CX. 16GB of DDR3 vengeance. I want to play games like Metro Redux at the best I can do for my budget. I'm 21, I have a nightmare 9 to 5 job and make like $14 an hour. But I have to pay for more important things.

Anyway, I've got a GPU around as good as yours (R9 270) and a worse CPU (FX 6300 @4.3GHZ) and I can play Metro last light easily at 50-60fps pretty much all the time, just turn tessellation and PhysX off, and turn AA to 2x or low. You'll not notice that much difference, and the game is completely smooth.

I want more, but I know I shouldn't dip too much. I will settle for a single GTX 770. But I think that's insane that these mid cards are maxing games. I was going to get Metro Redux, since Steam's sale will make a $25 game cheaper.
