Core 2 Quad's old, but its really powerful @ 4GHz, more than FX 4300, that's for sure.
yep true said, i would always go with the intel one for an upgrade but if ur building a new pc with mobo and everything u might wanna go with something new like lga1150 with intel g3220 which u can upgrade to an i5 later.
