Wait for Maxwell or SLI now

Hi There

In the next few months I will be getting the ROG Swift. Is it better to wait for the new Maxwell cards or add a second GTX 780 in sli to my current one. Will the 780's sli outperform a single 880 (assuming theres a 880).

i5 4670k 4.2 GHz
MSI Z87 G45 Mobo

Thanks
Chrisn

Because it isn't far away now (rumored to be around November time), and the performance for cost will be much better.

The Maxwell tech already looks very good in the mid range cards like the 750 Ti, amazing performance for only 60w power, creates hardly any heat so overclocks a large and easy. I except similar boosts with the 870/880, higher performance with much lower power consumption.

Hi

Since I have not receieved any resposnses I will try to clarify my question:

I currently have a single MSI GTX 780 TF 3GB OC graphics card. I am looking to purcahse the new Asus ROG Swift gaming monitor in the next few months. What performance can I expect for some of the more recent FPS games. If I am looking to improve frame rate at high to ultra settings will a socond GTX 780 in sli be an improvement or should I wait for the new maxwell cards. Will a single maxwell card (Assuming a GTX 880) be better than the 780's SLI. I see that the GTX 780 prices are starting to drop.

Also the Maxwells will still use the GK110 architecture with 28ns. Then can I assume that the new card performance will not be a major step change, except for reduced power requirements.

I currently have a i54670K 4.2GHz cpu and MSI z87 G45 Mobo. I also have a 750W PSU which I may have to upgrade if going SLI.

Regards
Chrisn

The main reason you are lacking responses is because no one except nvidia really knows what the performance will be like. I have seen esitmates that guess at similar performance to the 780 ti, others have said 780 performance + 35%!

I would guess that 780 SLI will out perform a single 880. But I personally would wait for the new cards.
