just bought the fx-8320 like 1 week ago, it runs fine till i overclock it, temps go through the roof

i oc'ed it to 4.4mhz @ 1.34v it idles 32c load is up to 65c, stable in p95 for 1hr
yet when i run stock clocks and voltages idle 30c and 52c underload
while gaming i hit around 59-62c oc'ed
im using the hyper 212 evo cooler and some random thermal paste
should i reseat the cooler with some better thermal paste, or did i just get a bad chip?

reduce the voltage on the overclock and recheck your temp and report result back you could try this on the sensor page to read them http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

That seems to be your limit I'm afraid.

I'm on a H80i and only about 2-3 degrees away from the thermal limit at 4.5GHz.
It should be noted that, with the LLC on Ultra High, that puts my voltages up to 1.38v under load. Slightly higher than yours (Although yours is under the stock 1.365, probably due to CPU LLC).

The 8350 is luck of the draw when it comes to temps, it seems you got unlucky with your chip. As did I.
The 212 isn't going to push that thing farther, you may be able to shave a few degrees using a better TIM and improving case airflow.

Also, 62c on the die (Technically calculation) is the limit recommended by AMD.

you could repaste using the arctic cooling mx2 or mx 4 and have a good air flow in the case .

is that 65c core or socket temperature?

max for socket is 72 (what most say)
but ive been +75 without throttling/shutdown
