I currently own a GTX 660. I was gonna buy a cheap used for for $125 for SLI. But I came across this used Powercolor Radeon 7970 (AX7970 3GBD5-M2DHV2) 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 reference card for only $135. The seller has multiple. I dont know much about Radeons but I hear this card is about equivalent to a GTX 680. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money so that is a big factor in my decision.
I know GTX 660 SLI outperforms a single Radeon 7970 in almost every category. If a 7970 just as strong as a GTX 680 would it make more sense to sell my GTX 660 and buy (2) of these 7970 put them Crossfire mode?
I know about SLI support in games, what about Crossfire? Do crossfire have good support in games newer and older? What does a reference card mean?
Again I dont want to spend a lot of money and I want better performance now so I dont want to get a single better card. I will be gaming on a 1080p Monitor.
