Hey guys,

I'm completely new to overclocking and I've had my PC for a while now and I'm just looking to boost it's performance a little (especially in games).

I don't have the slightest clue where to start really...
I have an AMD FX-6300, Sapphire Radeon 7870, and an ASRock 970 Extreme4 and I was wondering if I am able to overclock.

Can you guys link me some good content to learn from and how far you guys think I'd be able to push my computer? (I pretty much have stock cooling) I'm just looking for some good advice.

Thanks!

The stock cooler for the FX-6300 is only designed for 95W TDP. Once you start overclocking you will greatly exceed that and could cause damage. Even if you do get better cooling for your CPU, your motherboard has a very weak VRM design and won't be able to take much abuse before it becomes a smoky puddle of melted plastic in the bottom of your case.

That said, here is a good read to get you started:

Hi, ive got the same motherboard and CPU however i use a Evo 212 after market cooler. I too am new to overclocking and guides i have looked at don't best describe how to overclock using AsRocks UEFI.

I don't want to be guessing about this stuff as it could potentially damage my CPU so any help would be much appreciated.

I decided to just play it safe and go to 4GHz, i think with a lot of testing and fine tuning i could get around 4.3 - 4.5 GHz
