why is my 32 bit laptop with 8gb of ram saying that only 2.92gb is usable

but only 2.92 GB is USABLE

WHY?????

Please tell me why my laptop is not letting me use all 8 GB of my Ram!!!

32bit OS can only see 4GB of DRAM and usually only use 3.5 or so of the 4GB, 2.92 is lower than one would expect, but may be the GPU is grabbing a lot of the DRAM...will need to go to a 64bit OS to utilize 8GB

well... it's a 32bit OS... 32bit OS is maxed out around 3.8 or 3.9GB...

You need a 64 bit operating system to use more than 4GB of ram.

32-bit Windows can only address 4GB, and needs part of that address space for hardware, so can use only 3.5-2.6GB of RAM depending principally on how much graphics card memory is fitted.
