This is my first build and I purchased a GTX 770 graphics card. Before putting the card in I installed windows and everything worked fine, until I decided I should put the card in. If I try to put the card in, I get no video whatsoever. My monitor doesn't show anything other than the standard HDMI power saving mode. If I take the card out, the computer functions fine. Can someone help me with this? If it helps, my motherboard is a ASUS Z97-A. I don't think this is a problem with my power supply.

Just to eliminate the obvious, you are remembering to move the monitor's cable from the integrated video to the card's video ports, right?

1) Is the gfx card in the 1st PCI x16 slot (16_1)?
2) Do you have one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power cable connected?
3) Do you have access to another PCIe card to try?

What is the make/model of your PSU?

Just figured it out, had to disable the integrated graphics card.

Oh, I haven't seen that be a necessity for years. Is that an older PC? From the Core 2 Duo/Quad era or older?

yes that is strange that a haswell intel mobo would need to do that. there should be an option in the asus bios that forces it to look at the x16 slot for initial display and then onward. i think my z68 says something like intergrated, x1, and x16 for initial display options. ive never used my intergrated for display purposes and i forced it to go x16 anyways.

maybe this is what you did... you didn't "disable" the intergrated graphics... you just changed the bios to look to the x16 slot on the pcie lane.
