They tend not to put them there just for show.

Can one broken wire stop your automobile (or can one broken brake line not stop it!)? Sure. Same with a CPU.

You don't say what make and model your motherboard is, so difficult to answer. But the motherboard manual, or the manufacturer's web site, will give you this information. Pay particular attention to any BIOS updates required for a particular processor; these need to be applied before the processor is installed.

What is the motherboard model? Ask your dad to find it out. Its written on the motherboard with white ink or it can be found on the packaging.

That chip wont work if you have a mobo that supports 95w cpu because its a 125w cpu.

Yes it will work since your board supports 140w and phenom is 125w.

U have to get the new one. One pin broken then it means CPU's dead. In hardware works u have to be very very careful even U R expert.

i cannot find it for some reason but rounakr94 said it should be fine and many people online seem like they are saying it will work, also on the box online it says supports phenom II, as well as on amazon when i look at amazon at asrock extreme3 http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-870-CrossFireX-Motherboard... it says CPU: Socket AM3 Support AMD Phenom II X4/X3/X2 (except 920 /940) /Athlon II X4/X3/X2/Sempron processors; Six-Core CPU Ready; Supports Hyper-Transport 3.0 Technology; FSB 2600 MHz (5.2 GT/s) Chipset: AMD 870 & SB850 and mine is 965 so it should work correct? just need a final confirmation i have been up all night literally being uneasy now that i ordered it a while ago :(

Final is that check your current cpu's socket. If it is of "Socket AM3" then it will work on "ASRock 870 Extreme3" motherboard. This will be the final confirmation.

Your board is a AM3 board which supports all variants of Phenom II/ Athlon II/ Sempron CPU's but it doesn't support AMD FX cpu's as FX requires AM3+ Boards.
