The only information I can find is that this is a laptop. Is this correct? The specs say it uses a 500GB SATA 5400rpm drive. being that it is sata, it will work on all modern computers. If this is going into a desktop PC case, you will need to get a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to fit in the case. Something like this.

Be sure you have a free 3.5" slot available in your case. If you are planning on transferring the operating system from one computer to another, this won't work. After mounting the drive in a new PC, you will need to reinstall the OS. if this is a laptop, then the OS is most likely an OEM which means you will need to...

Yes thanks so much the hdd is from a laptop and I have a 2.5&3.5 bay in my custom destop thanks so much one more question how will I save everything on that hdd because my laptop is broken.

Check the motherboard specs / includes list. Most come with sata cables. In fact I don't know of any motherboard that doesn't come with cables, unless it a retail machine like Dell, Gateway, HP,...

Ummm... does your dad's computer have an avalilable drive bayt? 2.5" drives can be used in laptops and PC's. 3.5" drives can't be used in laptops due to their physical size.

OS's normally won't run if you try to move them to a different laptop/PC.
