Xeon vs Core i5

What will you be doing?

A Xeon has more threads or core which can be evenly spread so this is more suitable for video or photos editing.

An i5 would be the best budget CPU for gaming as it is quad core and most games only utilise about that much and not more than that. :)

Can i run Watch_dogs on h atsettings with the i5? I heard that the Xeon is like an i7 but without the integrated graphics.

If for gaming, then go for i5 3470. If you are into graphics related tasks like video editing, 3d rendering etc then go for Xeon 1230 V2. Intel i5 has four cores with four threads (one thread per core) plus it has built-in GPU. Xeon has four cores with eight threads (two threads per core) with hyper threading and it does not have built-in GPU. Normally, Xeon is alternative of i7 with all the functionality of i7 but without built-in GPU.

Yes of course an i5 will do fine for gaming as I said most games don't utilise 2 core out of a total of 4 cores (which is the i5 quad core).

Would you be doing video editing and gaming? Then go with an i7.
Would you be doing. Video editing only? Then go with a Xeon.
