Hey all! After reading around here for months and other forums and still not finding any solution i decided to ask. My Gigabyte gtx 660 is acting weird. my computer boots up fine and i can surf the web and do other things. But when i start any program that puts load on the graphic card (such as games) the graphic cards fans start going fast and then it just blue screens. after the blue screen it says ''Please power down and connect the pci-e power cables for this graphics card''. Help?
My specs:
Card: Nvidia Geforce gtx 660 by Gigabyte
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme4
PSU: Cooler Master GX Lite 600w
Ram: 8GB
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor
Win 7 64bit
Thanks in advance!

Your PSU is the bottleneck, its very low grade Tier 4 PSU. Here is the Tier list:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...
You should never go below tier 3 with mid range PC and tier 2 with high end PC. You should not have gone below Tier 2. Change your PSU ASAP!
EVGA/ Antec/ Super Flower (or Kingwin in USA)/ SeaSonic are the best ones IMO.
Get a good 600W or higher Tier 2 Class A PSU or a Tier 1 if you can afford it.

Do you have the connection from your PSU to the GPU connected?Yes its a 6pin and its connected. The 6pin splits up into two cables that are both connected to the psu.
That doesn't sound right. Typically the split end goes to the GPU and in your case, you'd leave one of the 6+2pins connectors just hanging there. I didn't think it was possible to connect the cable backwards but it sounds like you have.

Yes that one, I know its out of your budget, but that's like the winner b/w GTX 780 and R9 290, let alone competing with 770
Sorry for asking, but is there anyway it could be the CPU or Motherboard? I always hear a strange crackling sound when i start the computer , and start games. But i cant tell where from its coming. Just dont want to spend 420$ and then it still doesnt work. Thanks in advance.

I'd actually advice getting it physically checked from an expert, we can advice on each and every possible issue but can't actually take the place of a professional who can have his hands on your build. They just told us to clean the card but that doesnt explain or help us. Theres a 45 day money back guarantee, Do you think i should just buy the card and see if it works? I bought a new CPU and Motherboard when i moved everything from one computer to the other and ever since then it hasnt worked. At first it barely worked at all and my computer closed instantly when i started a game. Now its better but still doesnt work on 80% of the games. When i check values nothing goes to 100% usage.
I know you cant tell if or what. But do you think its the graphic card? Or could it be the motherboard/cpu?

It'd be a gamble to buy GPU and return it if it doesn't work. If you're absolutely sure you can get your money back, then why not try this gamble! If it works=you own a better GPU w/o issues, if it doesn't you know it unrelated to GPU and you return the GPU for your money and we investigate further.

Another thing i might add is i tried another worse card in my computer a long time ago, and it works. Sadly i cant really reach the heavy games with that card and therefor cant test it properly. But it still makes me think its the GPU. im still a bit worried about the whole thing.
The company is a very known one here in sweden and states ''Free Delivery , Free Return , 45 day money back gurantee'' so i think i might order it next week. Thank you for now.

Not as good as Tri X but a good card overall, you can get its GTX 780 version, its one of the best. Well for towers, Fractal has a pretty good lineup as is of NZXT Phantom, what's your plan for combined expenditure for GPU and case?I dont know the money im able to spend. I have 450$ but can probably get another 150$. the plan was never to spend this much but now that winter is coming i need a pc. If im buying a new case i want a big one that i dont have to change immidietly if i want to put water cooling or something similar. i was looking at NZXT Phantom but i dont know if its big enough for me. would be sad to spend 150$ and then have to change next year.
Maybe instead i could buy ''MSI GeForce GTX 780 3GB OC TwinFrozr Gaming-series + Borderlands -The Pre-Sequel'' i do get a game for 60$ that i actully want and its a beast card as far as ive heard?

I hate how its alot cheaper for everything in US for us swedes.
The Sapphire card comes in at: 489$
The NZXT tower comes in at: 169$
The MSI Radeon R9 290 4GB Comes in at: 531$
The MSI 780 comes in at: 617$ , And i get a 57$ worth game for purchasing.
Seems best to just go for the 780 as i will most likely buy the game later if i get one of the other cards. Its on the same site with the 45 day money back. So ill give it a try next week. Thanks alot for the help!

Back again. Now im 100% sure its the graphic card making the noise , but still not sure its the thing causing it.
Anyways, im gonna call the site i bought the card from because i might still have a warranty on it. If not im thinking about buying:
MSI GeForce GTX 770 Gaming 2GB PhysX
Would it be a good choice? im thinking its alot less but i read its more for your money. And i thought if i need an upgrade in the future i can buy another one and sli. What do you think?

Yes MSI makes the quietest and coolest cards, besides being equally good at power too. If you want to SLI in future (which'd be a good decision), consider buying the 4GB version.I was just thinking the 2gb version has such a good price. 390$. And if im getting the 4gb version then i could just get the 780 instead. WHy do you recommend the 4gb version for sli?

Hello again. My dad and I played around with the cables and it worked for 2 days straight , making us believe it was just a bad graphic card cable. But now it shut off again, and when i restarted it. Its just as if i dont have the drivers installed for the card anymore. I can choose 1920x1080 but theres still a black box around the screen, like borders. Any comments?

Test your video card in another system, only real way to rule out if the card is bad or if it's something else.
Since you are replacing a 660, you can spend about a lot less and get R9 270X. It's faster than your 660 that is having issues and is a lot cheaper than the nVidia 770 although slower than that card. But since you are basically replacing a bad card, unless you really want to upgrade, you will be just fine with the 270X.
