I currently have a:
Gigabyte 945GCMS2L motherboard
Intel E4600 Core 2 duo 2.4 ghz
2x1GB DDR2 RAM
XFX 9800GT 512MB DDR3

And a CIRCLE PSU..
I dont know it's output in watts.
But it says 220V

I wanna buy this..
http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-amd-ati-radeon-r7-240-...

Will it work?
If yes..Better than my current GPU?

Thank you.

Voltage on your PSU isn't related to the PSU itself, that's the minimum voltage it expects from the wall. We need Wattage and Amperage on the 12v rail(s) to know how good it is, along with an efficiency rating.

In terms of the r7 240, I refer you to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sph6cjJeRdI

I would say wait a little while and save up for an r7 260x or gtx 750ti. Anything lower will not give you much in terms of performance

R7 240 is not better than 9800GT

So what do you guys say?
Which gpu should i buy?
750Ti and r7 260x is almost like 200$
I cant afford that yet..

About the PSU..
Where can i find the Output(watts)
I looked everywhere but couldnt find it..

BTW..My budget is around 100-125$

Is this one any better?

It should be displayed on the PSU on some sort of label. The label might be on the side of the PSU you can't see due to the case.

I would say buy no GPU until you can afford a 260x or 750ti, as nothing lower than these will give a significant performance boost compared to the 9800GT

Thanks..260X it is..!!
But first I'll have to see if my power is enough..
And does PCI 3.0 gpu work with PCI 2.0?

PCI Express 3.0 cards are backwards compatible to PCI-E 2.0 slots, yes. (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSSHuMHbCWo)

We need to know what the wattage your PSU is rated at. This is vital.

I could not get the actual power output of this psu
It's a Circle CPH692
Some are saying it's a 450watt psu but too weak...

It says "P4 ATX 1.3 Switching power supply"
So it's really old...

i would suggest upgrading the psu before any other components. I can't find any reputable power rwquirements for the r7 260x, meaning it could overload this psu, which could mean the PSU breaking the GPU and/or other components in the system

@CGurrell
I know this thread is a bit old...
But i finally narrowed down my choices
GTX 750 and R7 250
I cant afford new PSU or GTX 750 ti or R7 260x as you guys suggested...
My current gpu is 9800GT green edition
which probably consumes more power than GTX 750 will..
So it'll work okay,right?
My PSU
Circle Brand Model CPH692
AC Input : 200 V-240 V / 63 Hz / 5A
DC Output :
+12 V & 14 A
-12 V & 0.5 A
+5 V & 25 A
-5 V 0.5 A
+3.3 V & 5 14 A
+5VSB & 0.5 A

Yeah...I know my cpu will bottleneck these gpu
But it work well in gpu intensive games, right?

If both of them wont work with the current psu
I'll buy GT 730
I just need to play DX11 games...even if it's at 800x600 resolution
Haha...

Thank you..

That's a very bad replace ASAP PSU. I bet the 9800 GT you have do not require any PCIe power connectors. It's a dumbed down version of the original 9800 GT.

My advice is wait till you have have enough money to afford a mid range GPU and quality PSU

Okay..then should i buy this psu
http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-smps-cx500-500-watts-ps...
with this gpu
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/sapphire-amdati-radeon-...

Or should i not buy a psu and buy this gpu
Because the combo I've mentioned above is too expensive together...

Update-My PSU is a 450 Watt one..
It has 14A on the 12V rail..
So Max of 168 watts on that rail..
So GTX 750 should work,right?
At full stress it uses about 148 watts...

Thanks....
I'll buy them...
About the PSU...
Will it fit right in my pc?
That's what i was worried about...

It's a bottom mount PSU. If your cabinet supports a top mount then cooling might be affected

Almost all quality PSUs are meant to be bottom mounted so is Antec VP series. Just get it

I would love to accept your recommendation..
But there isnt any space where i can mount the psu at the bottom..
There's only space at the top..
If i could find some nice psu which can be mounted at the top..
This is my case..
http://www.circlect.com/index.php?route=product/product...

Or should i just buy GT 730 which will easily run on my psu...
?

lol. You have to install it at the top with the intake fan facing inside the cabinet. Since the intake fan is inside it will take in the hot air inside the case. What happens in a bottom mounted PSU cabinet is that there is usually a vent at the bottom of the case and the PSU is mounted with the fan facing downwards so it takes in the cool air directly from outside. It is going to be better than your circle psu in any case

LOL..
I didnt know we could invert and mount the psu too..XD
Understood then...
I'll buy that Corsair 450 watt PSU mentioned above with r7 250 GDDR5...
