So my friend is having a lot of problems with his gaming PC and I am trying to help. I am NOT an expert but I am more comfortable with this stuff. This is what I know:

His PC specs:
i7 9xx(can't remember)
Msi atx mobo
Gtx 465 evga
Evga 750w PSu
12gb ram(using all 6 slots)

His symptoms(in order of most occurring)
Computer restarting when opening games, happens more often if opening steam or skype at same time.
Major graphics errors. Black screen, weird lines, colorful stuff.
Black screen on start after msi screen

My PC specs(I will explain)
Q6600
Dell BTX mobo(yes BTX)
Hd7850
Diablotech 600w PSu

I have installed every driver he could need then even tried a reformat. Didn't help. Next we tried switching video cards. At first both comps were fine. Soon his started to have minor problems but nothing like before. Then I got just a few restarts and such when playing counter strike and dota. This actually lasted a couple months. Finally we switched back, and now his problems are really bad. He basically has to let it restart on him a bunch of times before he can get into a game, then it's fine for hours.

I know diablo tech PSu are terrible, but this one worked for 10 years with no problems. I am also scared to put any more of my parts into his PC for fear of ruining them(I have another "gaming" PC.) Is it possible his card is killing the PSu, or vice versa? Also his gpu uses 2 6 pin power, and mine uses 1 8 pin.

What should we try next?

Thanks for any help

This could possibly be your motherboard, but first off, have you updated to the latest BIOS for your motherboard? I would suggest that first. Next, I would make sure your RAM is set to the right speed in the BIOS. I remember I used to have a similar problem, whenever my CPU throttled really high my PC would just get a black screen, and would sometimes turn off. If the ram speed isn't set right in the BIOS it could give problems like this.
