A relative of mine was going to get me a couple of sticks of ram, but I'm not entirely sure that my motherboard supports it. The ram in question that we want to get is G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16 GB (2x8 gb) ( link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231571

Edit: According to Blackbird, my board will have a hard time running the ram at that speed, but according to drkatz it is compatible. Why exactly is that, and will it affect performance significantly if i choose to use it?

it is compatible with that motherboard bcuz its DDR3- http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/specifications/ -but DDR3 2133 O.C. means ur going to have to overclock ito get it to run that fast, the mb supports overclocking it. The more ram the better it doesn't matter what speed. I wouldn't overclock if u don't know what ur doing, u could ruin parts or make the room feel like a sauna.
