I have an older laptop, Windows Vista. I plug the hdmi into the Toshiba TV with the laptop, and nothing comes up. I go over to a different (samsung) TV and the HDMI works fine.

When I use another device on the Toshiba TV, the HDMI works fine.

This TV and this Laptop are not co-operating, but It's working with other TV's.

Help!

instead of "duplicate" change the mode to "external display" and drag things over onto the new screen. or, you could use the mode where the external display is treated as your primary and the lcd on your laptop is turned off. this would work as well.

most likely you are getting no signal because you are trying to send an unsupported resolution.

"duplicate" tends to cause these sort of issues when using a different resolution than your laptop has natively. also lcds should always be set to native resolutions so change your laptop back to what it should be.

televisions tend to be very picky about what resolutions they display. some will scale the content (likely what your other tv does) but most will just not display.
what resolution are the televisions and laptop screens and what display mode do you have your laptop set to? by mode i mean the one typically accessed by fn+f4 such as "duplicate", "external monitor" and "off".

also are you sure that you have the correct input selected on the tv? ie hdmi one when connecting to that port?

does that same port work with other sources such as a dvd player?

The Laptop is set to Duplicate. I've tried every resolution on the laptop with no luck.

The TV is 1080,

The laptop is : 800/600 , 1024/768 , 1280/600 , 1280/720 , 1280/768 , 1366/768.

Every other device works fine with the TV.
It does have HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 on the TV, with two ports and Input's to select from. I tried every resolution on both ports.
