I just upgraded from a nvidia quadro 1700 to a Nvidia gtx 650 2gb and im getting basically the same performance. i have all the latest drivers and idk what to do.. please help

Try using Display Driver Uninstaller (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html), then do a clean install of the latest driver for the 650. Sometimes if the old drivers are not removed completely, they can cause conflicts.

i did and im getting the same performance, are there any other solutions?

Have you run any benchmarks like Unigine Heaven, 3DMark Firestrike? What idle and load temps are you getting? What does the rest of your build consist of?
Is your PC actually using the GPU vs the integrated graphics processor (IGP)? What games are you playing, with what settings, and what FPS rates?

Need more details.

I ran a furmark benchmark and it did very very poorly. my cpu is a core 2 quadro, 6g ram, and in minecraft im only getting 50fps which is what i was getting with my other graphics card. btw i only used minecraft as a test.

Try downloading and running a benchmark on Unigine Heaven. When it completes, the results will show in a pop-up window. At the bottom of that window, it will give you the option to save the results. Save it to your desktop. Then open the saved file (it'll be an HTML) and copy and paste the results as text into a post. The results will not show your GPU temp, so you'll need to make a note of it and add it to the post separately.
